Letters To The Editor: In response to The Missouri Solution

By Jan Hanson Orangeville

Editor:
As with many Utahns, I have ancestors who immigrated to and through Missouri in the first half of the 19th century. At that time, Missouri also had a very strict, unbending immigration policy. To get rid of their unwanted immigrants, they stole their land, burned their homes, and took advantage of their women. When the immigrants tried to maintain their rights as American citizens, the governor stepped in and issued a legal proclamation making it legal to kill any immigrants who did not leave the state immediately. It was called the Extermination Order.
Perhaps this is the way to solve the illegal immigration problems..exterminate anyone with brown skin or a Spanish accent, regardless of how much good they are doing in America.
