On Nov. 17, 18, and 19 the Emery High Drama Department will present the fun, musical, Grease. The Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances will be held in the Emery High Auditorium at 7 p.m. The admission fee is $4 for a student or child, $5 for and adult, and $25 for a family. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Emery High Drama students or at the door on the night of the performance.
This musical production is the classic school version of a love story between two high school teenagers, who have completely different personalities. The main characters are Danny, the confident leader of the Burger Boys and the sweet, but naïve, new student Sandy. The story circles around their relationship and their friendships with all the students at Rydell High School, (Class of 1959). All of the characters have very unique personalities and quirks. Grease is a witty and charming comedy with 50s rock ‘n roll music from the movie and it will last two hours.
Blayke Noyes is playing Danny and Sandy will be played by Adrienne Carter. Miss Lynch is Angelica Gomes. Patty Simcox is Ashley Ruth Stilson. Craig Greenburg is the slightly confused character Eugene. Marissa Urie is Jan, and Marty is Whitney Withers. MiaBella Doria will be Rizzo. Doody is Taylor Hardman. Roger is Jeremiah Luke. Kenicke is Jordan Cox, and Taylor Weihing is Sonny. Rachel Rogers will be Frenchie. Vince Fontaine is Kalin Reynolds. Johnny Casino is Colton Clement. Cha-Cha is Brittany Fauver. Marqui Moss is the Teen Angel.
The pink Ladies will be Tia Van Wagoner, Nicole McCandless, Mariah Behling, Melece Pulli, and Marqui Moss. The Hamburger Boys are Tyler Rubio, Adam Brinkworth, Tyler Dasch, Colton Clement, Kalin Reynolds, and Dalin Walker.
The students will be played by Kennedy Byington, Ben Doria, Bryson Hales, Erica Flores, Madi Hendrickson, Mandy Davis, Jentrie Allred, Kenlyn Nielson, Jaicelyn Shakespaere, Jaden Gordon, Amanda Huntsman, and Randi Mecham. With extras the cast will number 40 people.
The play is under the direction of Neal Peacock and the music director is Marilee Cox. Choreography was created by McKette Sitterud, and credit for the technical aspects go to Josh Knighton, Tyler Fairbanks, McKlayne Moss, Jaydon Olsen and Jenny Anderson. This play has some great choreography and is well organized.
Grease will be the start of an exciting year for Emery High’s Drama Department. Later on in the year they plan to perform a production called The Imaginary Invalid. This is a comedy by Moliere. After that, they expect to perform Scotts Wae Hae, The Robert Burns Story, a unique production about Scottish poet Robert Burns.
They also look forward to the drama competitions this year.
Emery High Drama also is anticipating a great Speech and Debate season this year. After a successful year with speech and debate last year they expect it will only get better, and it looks like it will be another eventful year for student drama at Emery High.
