CARBONVILLE-Ann Perla Peczuh, age 94, passed away peacefully April 18, 2011 with her granddaughter Stephanie at her side.
She was born Jan. 1, 1917 in Aspen, Colo. to John and Amelia Miljavac Perla.
Married Mathew P. Peczuh, Nov. 28, 1939 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Price.
Ann was a devout member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church where she was a member of the Sewing Guild. One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting quilts and afghans. Ann never knew how to sit still, so when she wasn’t baking, you could probably find her working outside. Ann always had a little project, and during the spring and summer months she looked forward to caring for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.
She loved to bake cakes, cookies, make strudel and potica and her rum cakes delighted the tastebuds of all. When she wasn’t fixing something special, she was always worrying about the well-being of others. Ann was full of energy and her Slovenian heritage kept her ready for the next polka. She loved sports and her favorite teams were the Jazz, Rockies, Yankees and she especially loved watching her Notre Dame Football. Everyone will miss her zest for life and her service to others.
She is survived by her daughter and son, Mary Peczuh, Matt J. (Sharon) Peczuh, all of Price; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Rose Koran, Carbonville; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew P. Peczuh; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joe Penovich; sisters, Mary Peczuh, Molly Skiff, Eva Perla; and brothers, John, Frank, and Joe Perla.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 6 p.m. at the church in Price. Family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
