PRICE-Our beloved Dad and Papa, George Farlaino, age 91, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Garden Terrace in Salt Lake City while surrounded by his family.
He was born April 25, 1919 in Sunnyside, Utah to Salvatore “Sam” and Tarasina Lamana Farlaino.
Married Angelina Barbara Angotti, April 12, 1947 in Price; she died Dec. 21, 2008.
George was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a lifetime resident of Carbon County and a member of the Price Elk’s B.P.O.E. #1550.
George graduated from Carbon High School and was a member of the 1939 State Championship Football Team where he threw the winning pass. He attended BYU on a football scholarship until he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII. For his bravery and service to his country he was awarded the Silver Star.
George loved and played in all sports, and he made the first hole-in-one at the Carbon Country Club. He was an avid Yankees and Notre Dame fan. Besides sports, he loved music, waltzing with his beloved Angie and singing. He was a man of many trades. George was a grocery store owner, milkman, restaurateur, and retired from Soldier Creek Mine.

He is survived by his children, Sam, Price, Kelly (John) Mannos, Salt Lake City, Reggie (Renae), Grand Junction, Colo., and Ernestine Pippas, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Anthony (Maryann) Farlaino, Sami F. Carlisle, Patrick Mannos, Whitney and Paige Farlaino, William and Christina Pippas and four great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Charlyze, Liam Carlisle and Brian Tate Camplin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Jim and Tom; sisters, Vera Bonaquisto, Della Compagni, Rachel Leonard and Helen Evenich.
The family would like to thank his niece, Tisa Pendergrass, R.N. and Josie Alcon for all of their love and devotion. Also a special thanks to Shauna O’Brien and staff at the Heirloom Inn in Price, as well as Garden Terrace and Bristol Hospice of Salt Lake City.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 16, 2011, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Price. Visitation Friday evening, April 15, 6-8 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price. Committal, Cliffview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of George at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net .
