FERRON-Robert Lee Thompson, age 48 passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home from complications due to diabetes. Bobby was born Sept. 27, 1962 the oldest of three sons born to Robert C. Thompson and Harolene “Butch” Snyder. Bobby married Taunie Magnuson in Sept. of 1981 in Castle Dale, they later divorced. He married Cheri Beach in 1988 in Ferron, they later divorced.
He grew up in Ferron and attended Emery High School graduating in 1980. Bobby was very active in high school participating in many activities, excelling in football and bull riding. Bobby will be remembered as a compassionate, big hearted individual who loved to help others. He was always trying to help the other guy land the big buck. He loved spending time with his family in the outdoors, be it hunting or camping in the mountains or out on the desert. Bobby was a licensed Journeyman Carpenter, an all around handyman. He loved riding and working with horses and riding bulls.
Bobby is survived by his parents: Robert (Shelly) Thompson of Ferron and Harolene “Butch” (Roy) Snyder of West Valley City; children: Tyrel (Kyleigh) Thompson of Spring Glen, Jameson Ward of Billings, Mont., Skylor (Kaylyn) Thompson of Beaver Creek, Ore. and Gauge Thompson of Beaver Creek, Ore. Bobby was also the legal guardian of M.J. who he cared for like his own son. Bobby is also survived by his two grandchildren: Damien and Ellie Ward, brothers: Shayne (Michelle) Thompson of Ferron and Kasey (DeeDee) Thompson of Ferron, sister: Heather (J.R.) Richarz and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents: James H. and Norma Madsen Allred and Eldon and Theresa Cox Thompson and Papa Alan Tozer.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Ferron LDS Stake Center (555 S. 400 W.). A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Ferron LDS Stake Center and on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
