Tharrel E. Caldwell “Ted”

FERRON-Tharrel E. Caldwell, age 82, passed away on Dec. 27, 2010 in Ferron, Utah. He was born on Aug. 16, 1928 to Blake and Mildred Oaks Caldwell in Vernal, Utah. Tharrel married Betty Lee in February of 1949 in Vernal, Utah and their union was blessed with three daughters, Connie, Carol and Camille, they later divorced. Later in his years he married Florence Komar in June of 1993 in Winnemucca, Nev., she died April of 2002.
He was schooled in Vernal and through many life lessons. He worked hard and there was not much in his life when it came to hard work that he could not do. He was a great horseman, he taught many besides his two daughters all about riding and rodeo. Many summer evenings were spent at Steinaker Reservoir boating and teaching anyone who wanted to learn to ski. Hunting was big in his life and he took many a big buck in the Book Cliffs and the Diamond Mountain area, of course all who knew him in his younger days remember the Susie dog and the pheasant hunts or the story about the lost fish and pole at Flaming Gorge, recatching the fish and his new pole still being hooked to the fish (honest). Ted as he was known by most built homes for a living in Vernal, worked the oil fields when he was young and was a pipefitter out of the old Local 57 for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his two daughters, Connie Lee (Larry) Lipsey of Rocks Springs, Wyo. and Carol Ann (Donald) Riddle of Emery, Utah, a special stepdaughter, Linda (Dale) Fielder, of Castle Dale, Utah, brother, Marion “Mick” Caldwell of Roosevelt, Utah, granddaughters: Michelle Vincent of Ferron, Utah, Ashley Riddle of Hurricane, Utah, Chesney (Juan) Galindo of LaVerkin, Utah, step-grandchildren: Justine and Dallas Fielder of Castle Dale, Utah, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Camille Caldwell, sister, Annie Althera Mulkey, brother, Duane F. Caldwell, and wife Florence Komar Caldwell.
At the request of our father there will be no formal services, Ted will be cremated and buried near his parents in the Maesar Cemetery in Vernal, Utah at a later time on a warm day. He always hated that his baby daughter Camille was buried on a cold winter day. Arrangements are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
