EAST CARBON-Alton Loy Goodin, age 81, passed away in Price, Utah, on Dec. 25, 2010. He was the second of eight children born to John Wesley and Vaida Florence Coleman Goodin on May 8, 1929, in Maud, Okla. Bud married Lahoma “Alice” Weatherly on July 28, 1945 in Maud, Okla.
Bud was raised in Oklahoma, and learned the value of hard work at a young age. He worked the oil fields as a young man for 20 years, in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1968 they moved to Moab, Utah where he worked for Pot Ash for five years and then they moved to East Carbon where he worked for Kaiser Mine for five years until his retirement.
Bud loved gardening vegetables, yard work, and loved working with animals, and was a big fan of music, he loved playing the guitar, harmonica and singing. He loved his family and always provided for them. He will be remembered as a honest and hard working man.
He is survived by his children: Alton “Buddy” (Kathleen) Goodin of Wellington, Carolyn (Kenneth) Kay of Castle Dale, Detra (Peter) Borner of McCall, Idaho, and seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Delbert (Jarita) Goodin of Del City, Okla., Norma (Arnold) LaFarge, of Loveland, Ohio, Sue (Dean) McCraw, of Stillwater, Okla., and Dewey (Carolyn) Goodin of Maud, Okla.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Alice, sister, Melba Jean, and brothers, Alvin and Don Goodin.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South, Price). Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. prior the service at the mortuary.
