HUNTINGTON- A wonderful wife, mother, sister and aunt, Kathy Nielsen Birch, age 56, passed away on Dec. 27, 2010 at her home in Huntington, Utah.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1954 to Morris and Helen Maye Swasey Nielsen. She married Ronnie Ewell and had one son Ricky Ewell. They later divorced and she married Gary Birch on Nov. 17, 1972 in Huntington, Utah. He passed away Aug. 31, 2010.
Above anything else Kathy loved her family, no one ever felt like a stranger in her home. She has always been an amazing cook and housekeeper. She loved to go camping and hunting but most of all, she loved long nights sitting around a campfire telling stories, laughing and talking. She enjoyed making and giving her quilts to loved ones.
Kathy is loved by all and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son, Ricky Ewell; siblings, Gordon (Paula) Nielsen, Ralyn (Dennis) Carter, Wayde (Tracy) Nielsen; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Helen Maye Nielsen; husband, Gary Birch; sister, Toni Maye Lindsey; brother-in-law, Bob Lindsey; nephews, Cory Nielsen and Travis Carter; niece Jonnita Oliver.
Funeral service, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, 3 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. A visitation was held at Mitchell Funeral Home from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Elmo Town Cemetery.
