"Blue Hills ward members work on beautification at the Clawson Cemetery."

The Blue Hills Ward of Ferron turned out in force as they helped put the Clawson Cemetery in tip top shape as part of a service project. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has encouraged every ward in their church throughout the world to do a project for their community. The Blue Hills ward chose to help out in the Clawson Cemetery which is in need of beautification.
Many volunteers showed up to lay pipe for a drip line watering system for the newly planted trees in the cemetery. Weeds and debris were cleaned from the cemetery itself and rock paths were placed throughout the cemetery. Graves were cleaned and headstones wiped off to add to the appearance of the cemetery. Clawson mayor Mandy Price was thankful for the many volunteers who arrived to take part in the project. She explained the old Clawson cemetery will be taken care of as it is and a new fence will be placed around it. The town is unable to use the cemetery any more because of all the graves there which are unmarked. A new section of cemetery is being developed which will have grass and trees and will be able to accommodate future burials.
Also as part of the service project the Blue Hills ward is trying to help identify the graves in the cemetery that aren’t marked.
After a morning of hard work the group returned to the pavilion in Clawson to have a barbeque lunch. After the lunch the children played games including frisbee throw, pop toss, snow cone eating and face painting. As part of the service project the Blue Hills ward is working to find out who is buried in the Clawson Cemetery and where the graves are located.
After lunch many of the group returned to the cemetery to complete the work there. Mayor Price and all Clawson residents extend their thanks for all the help and hard work of the Blue Hills Ward and Clawson residents.
