The Division of Wildlife Resources will sponsor a Kids’ Fishing Day at the Huntington Game Farm Pond on Sept. 24. The event will run from 9 a.m. until noon.
Rods, reels and bait will be provided for persons who don’t have their own. Personal instruction will also be available.
For those who have their own tackle, they may fish before 9 a.m. or after 12 noon.
Children under 12 don’t need a license to fish. A year-long license for 12 and 13 year-olds costs $5. A 365 day license, for persons who are age 14 and over, costs $26.
Prior to the Saturday event, the pond will be freshly stocked with 8-10 inch rainbow trout to ensure good fishing. The limit is two fish.
To get to the pond, drive up the Huntington Canyon Road to the ballpark. Turn right at the Huntington North Loop Road. Travel north on this road for about one mile. When the road bends sharply to the left, turn right and leave the asphalt road and continue straight onto a dirt road. Follow the dirt road north for about one mile to the pond.
