PRICE- Presbytera Sophia Cavoulas Athas born Dec. 30, 1925, fell asleep in the Lord June 14, 2011
She was the third of three sisters born to immigrant parents George and Diane Cavoulas in Aliquippa, Pa. She graduated from Aliquippa High School and went to beauty school and owned a hair salon business in Aliquippa, Pa.
She met a recent graduate of Holy Cross School of Theology in Brookline, Mass. who was serving as a Pastoral Assistant at the Aliquippa Parish of Kimisis Tis Theotokou. He was directing the choir and she was singing and hit the right note and they married and had a melodious marriage for 50 years.They were blessed with three beautiful children Stephanie (Teek) Brower, Peter and George (Lisa) Athas and the joys of her life her three grandchildren John Athas, Chrystal (Brian) Thatcher, and Julia Athas and great-grandchildren Nevaeh and Damon. She will always be remembered for vibrant personality, witty humor, delicious Greek cooking, her unselfish hospitality and beautiful smile. As the wife of a priest, Presbytera, she and Father John Athas served parishes in Altoona , Pa., Daytona Beach, Fla., Clearwater, Fla. and Price, Utah. She was active in the ministry always supporting her husband in the many seen and unseen aspect of the Church always being a Christian example to others. Sophie enjoyed working at the Durrant Elementary School cafeteria, volunteering as a Pink Lady at the Castleview Hospital, was a member of Philoptochos and dedicated member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her two sisters Athena Hullis and Dorothy Mathews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Dianne Cavoulas; her husband Father John Athas.

Trisagion, Thursday, June 16, 2011, 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price.
Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Committal, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Family Suggest donations be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
