Hess had the only other base hits for Emery, a double in the third inning and a single in the fifth inning.
Against Desert Hills, Emery scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to sneak away with a non-league victory. In a seesaw game, Emery led 1-0 after the first inning only to see Desert Hill tie the score at 1-1 in the second inning.
