ORANGEVILLE – Theo “Penny” Wayman Thomas, age 87, passed away July 31, 2012. She was born Dec. 21, 1924 in Molen, Utah to Daniel M and Wanda Chidester Wayman. She married Luther “Bud” Thomas and was a devoted wife and mother, caring for Luther through a lengthy illness until his death. She was a former Emery County Assessor and with her husband built the first Marina at Joe’s Valley. She enjoyed gardening and seeing the fruits of her labors in jars ready to eat. She attended Emery High and it was there she desired to be a part of the “P” girls so she took on the name of “Penny” and it stayed with her throughout her life.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Melvin) Lofley of Las Vegas, Lyle W. (Mary) Thomas of Little Fortworth, B.C. Canada, Larry (Larissa) Thomas of Las Vegas, and Luther Max (Carolyn) Thomas of Mill Creek, Wash., 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Also her siblings, Betty Falsone of Salt Lake City, Mary Ann Ralphenthal of St. George, Merle Wayman of Provo, and Butch Wayman.
Penny’s family would like to express their thanks to the many neighbors and friends who have cared for Penny and especially the Emery County Nursing Home and staff for their devotion and love to her.
A private interment was held in the Ferron City Cemetery and a memorial graveside will be held at a later date. Funeral services were under the trusted care of the Heritage Funeral Home where friends may visit the web site to share memories of Penny at www.heritagefuneralhomeutah.com.
