HUNTINGTON: Jordan Wallace Hatch passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident doing what he loved. Jordan graduated from Emery High in 1984 where he wrestled and played football. He earned an Associate Degree from College of Eastern Utah and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from Utah State University in 1989. He later earned a second Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from Utah State University.
Jordan was born to Ira Wallace and Elaine Brasher Hatch in Price, Utah. He was the middle child and only son. He married Joel Jensen on Aug. 5, 1989. Jordan and Joel raised two children, Holly and Hadan. Holly is a student at the University of Utah and Hadan is serving as an LDS missionary in the France Paris mission.
Jordan loved to go on the annual deer hunt with Hadan and his cousins in Panguitch and girls were not allowed. He loved to farm and ranch. He loved his cows. Jordan loved to work more than most people. The only time he took a vacation was when Joel booked and paid for it and he couldn’t back out. Many quality hours were spent as a family working hard on the land and with livestock. His greatest pastime was teasing others, often to the point of tears. He wasn’t happy until someone was crying. That’s how you knew he liked you, if he took time to tease.
He worked for Kerwin Jensen and KFJ Trucking for three years as a truck driver. He continued driving truck for Savage Industries for two years. He was currently employed as Department Head and Associate Professor of the Heavy Equipment and Trucking Department at USU Eastern. He held this position for 15 ½ years. Jordan was fortunate to have a job he loved and was able to make a difference in the lives of those he taught.
Jordan and Joel served as the Young Farmers and Ranchers for Emery County Farm Bureau and were the District Chairmen for Utah Farm Bureau. Jordan later served as the Vice-President of Emery County Farm Bureau for several years. He was the current President of the Emery County Farm Bureau. He was recently elected to the Utah Farm Bureau State Board of Directors. He held the agriculture seat on the RAC Board for many years. He served the community in many other capacities.
He is survived by his wife, Joel; children, Holly (Jeff Dennis) and Hadan; parents, Ira Wallace and Elaine; sisters, Margaret (Ted) Wells and Yvonne (Ty) Jensen. Nieces and nephews, Kenzie, Karlie, Kelton, Nevin, Ashlynn, Kody, Lainee, and Brax. Father and Mother-In-Law, Willis (Bill) and Kathy Jensen.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Huntington Stake Center. Viewing was held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment followed at the Huntington City Cemetery.
