County track goes to carbon meet

Carbon High School sponsored the annual Carbon High Farm Bureau Invitational track meet last Saturday and both Emery High and Green River High had athletes that participated on a day that couldn’t decide if it was winter or summer or spring as we saw it all that day.
For the boys, Stansbury High was first followed by Richfield High and Carbon High. Emery finished ninth and Green River finished 12th. For the girls, Stansbury also won this followed by San Juan with Carbon fourth. The Emery girls also finished ninth.
Scoring for Green River in the meet was javelin thrower Justin Johnson. Johnson finished first with a throw of 167.07′. Scoring for the Emery girls was Ashlynn Allred with a first place finish in the long jump with a jump of 17’4″ and Allred finished third in the 400 meter with a time of 1:00.95. Allred did not run the 100 or the 200. Leading the scoring for the Emery boys was Brandon McCandless with a second place finish in the shot put. Brandon had a throw of 41’7″.
Gavin Oviatt finished third in the high jump with a jump of 6′. Brendon Jorgenson finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 19’17.5″. Tyler Rowley finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
Scott Jackson finished eighth in the 100-meters and also in the 400-meters.
Caleb Woolsey finished eighth in the 3200-meters and Justan Potter finished eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5’6″. Emery hosts their only home track meet this Thursday afternoon.
