Ernest “Ernie” Andrizzi Jr., special husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on April 16, 2012.
Ernie was born June 9, 1935 in Helper, Utah to Ernest and Elda Lunelli Andrezzi.
On June 10, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Sharon Marlene Arnold in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 57 years.
At the young age of 12, Ernie began learning and mastering the trade of auto mechanics. After graduating high school and getting married, he and Sharon moved to Sandy, Utah where he later ran several service stations and owned Ernie’s Car Care Center for many years. Following his retirement as a small business owner, Ernie spent nearly 20 years as a salesman for several diesel parts companies.
Ernie spent many years serving the Sandy community as a volunteer firefighter, scouting leader, youth baseball coach and president of Sandy Little League Baseball at the old Asay field.
Ernie was a convert to and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of the happiest years of his life were spent serving the Lord as a teacher, youth leader, High Priest Group Leader and member of the bishopric in the Mount Jordan Third Ward. His second religion was fishing, hunting and camping at Scofield.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon of Sandy; children Brett (Kathy) Andrizzi, Todd (Sherrie) Andrizzi, Tara (LaVon) Edwards, all of Sandy; Lance (Joanna) Andrizzi of Farmington and Flynn (Alison) Andrizzi of Newport Beach, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his older sister Dolores Michel of Idaho, younger sister and brothers: Kathy (Dave) Smith, Jim (Jill) Hanna, John (Christy) Hanna, all of Price, and Bill (Marjorie) Hanna of Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Ernest Brad Andrizzi and his brother David Andrezzi and sister Connie Johnson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at the Crescent 11th Ward LDS Chapel – 89 E. 1 1000 So., Sandy, Utah. Friends called Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, or Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
