Emery Town pipeline nears completion

Emery Town will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Emery Canal pipeline. It will be on Dec. 12. A tour of the pipeline will begin at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and lunch to follow at noon. The public is invited to attend. Meet at the Emery Town Hall 65 North Center at 10 a.m.
At the November Emery Town meeting possible projects for the sheriff’s work crews were considered. Possible projects included cleaning at the cemetery and painting at the community center.
Emery is still concerned about the Green’s cabin in the forest. The town has talked to Darrin Olsen from the forest service and the family has not done anything to renew their lease on the cabin. The forest service may preserve this cabin as a riders cabin. The concern is the town doesn’t want to lose the cabin because of its historic value and usefulness to people on the forest.
Councilperson Corrine Dalton presented her work on the development code amendment. Councilman Patrick Sundstrom said he is forming a community covenant committee with three people and a chairman. Councilman Dave Mangum announced the next CERT meeting for Emery will be on Jan. 16. Ferron is also offering CERT training the beginning of the year which is open to anyone wishing to attend.
A question concerning placing a marker in the Emery cemetery for a deceased person that is actually buried somewhere else was discussed. They may be able to buy a lot and place the marker or put the marker on a lot beside another marker. The council will consider how to proceed in this matter.
There are dogs running wild in the city. The council will call the owners to let them know of complaints. Emery Town will host a Christmas dinner for EMTs and firemen on Dec. 11. The town will hold their annual light decorating contest with first place receiving $75, second $50 and third, $35. There will also be a coloring contest for the children.
Emery is still in a critical water situation. The water in Julius reservoir was held over from the summer to get the town through the winter months with drinking water and cattle water. If the weather is really cold the water could freeze over which causes problems.
