Emery County Care and Rehab in Ferron is launching an “adopt a resident” program because many of the residents don’t have family nearby and some have no family at all. We are asking churches, clubs, organizations, schools and individuals to get involved. We ask that those who participate visit their adopted resident at least two times a month, making a special effort to visit on birthdays and holidays.
A visit from someone who is compassionate and interested in a residents feelings, needs, problems, and hopes will create healing that is not medicinal. Volunteers can give residents an emotional uplift by taking them out for a walk around the facility, playing a game, doing puzzles, making crafts, or bringing a pet for a visit.
The purpose for this program is to provide companionship to lonely residents. Visiting on a regular basis for 30 minutes to an hour. However, anytime spent with a resident is beneficial to them and appreciated by the facility. The “adoption” process is simple. Call Emery County Care at 435-384-2301. Ask for Charlene, Marilyn or Jarilyn.
