Emery football to play number 1 San Juan

With a convincing victory over the Kanab High Cowboys last Thursday night by the score of 61-30, the Emery High football team has started preparations for their quarterfinal game this Saturday against the San Juan Broncos in Blanding. With the victory, Emery now possesses a 7-3 season record and the Spartans are confident that they can improve upon that record.
Against the Cowboys, Emery amassed 535 yards of total offense with 483 of those yards coming on the ground. In what was a dominant offensive performance, the Spartans put on a show for their fans that should have satisfied even the most pessimistic amongst us.
Emery had three 100-yard rushers in the game and Emery scored every time they had the ball with the exception of the very last drive when they took a knee.
Junior back Marco Mota gained 144 yards on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns, senior back David Dyer ran the ball nine times and gained 120 yards and scored three times and junior back Jared Shakespaere ran the ball 11 times and gained 102 yards and scored once.
Emery’s other running backs gained 117 yards throughout the ball game. Emery’s fullbacks gained 63 yards led by sophomore Tanner Lake with 32 yards. Cory Cox gained 13 yards and Kayden Feichko gained 18 yards and scored a touchdown.
Emery had 10 offensive possessions in the game and with the exception of the final drive when they simply ran out the clock; Emery scored on all nine of those drives.
Emery’s scoring plays in the game started with a 10-yard run by David Dyer. Later in the first quarter, Spencer Labrum hit Tanner Lake on a screen pass that went five yards for the score.
In quarter two, Marco Mota ran the ball in from the 15-yard line for the third Emery score. David Dyer would score the second touchdown of the period on another 15-yard run and finally Spencer Labrum connected on a 31-yard pass with Bailey Faimalo as the Spartans scored as time ran out.
In the third quarter, Mota scores for the second time on a 34-yard run. The other score of the period was by Jared Shakespaere on a 13-yard run.
In the fourth quarter, Dyer scores for the third time on a 16-yard run and the final touchdown was scored by Kayden Feichko on a 5-yard run.
Defensively in this game, Emery had two interceptions off maybe the best quarterback that they have seen all season long. The Cowboy quarterback completed 15 of 28 passes for 311 yards in the game. Three of those passes went for touchdowns. Dyer and Feichko each had an interception that
