East Carbon-Lowell Guy Hersh, age 87, passed away on Oct. 12, 2012 in Price, Utah. Lowell was born on Aug. 5, 1925 in Meyersdale, Penn. to Ezra Ulyses and Laura Isabel Jensen Hersh. He married Fern Lewis on Sept. 14, 1946 in Price, Utah, their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 25, 1960, and she later passed away March 31, 2005.
Guy served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Guy worked his entire life in the mining industry and he was a member of the Elks Club. He loved people and spent his lifetime serving and helping others including years of service in the bishopric of the LDS Church. He also loved to hunt, fish, and travel; and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Guy is survived by his children: Karen H. Winnovich, Robert L. Hersh, Stanley G. Hersh, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ezra Ulyses “Bud” Hersh.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Fern, parents, and siblings.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the East Carbon LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Thursday prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Emery Town Cemetery at 3 p.m. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
