EAST CARBON/PRICE-Bessie Anderson Jumper Christman, age 90, passed away Sept. 28, 2012 at the Heirloom Inn in Price.
She was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Emery, Utah to Arthur M.. and Virtue A. Duzett Anderson.
Bessie married Gailard C. Jumper, July 23, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev. and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple; he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1992. On Sept. 17, 1994, she married Wally Christman in East Carbon and they shared six years together before his passing on Oct. 24, 2000.
Bessie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For over 20 years she was a dedicated and faithful member of the Castleview Hospital Auxiliary (Pink Ladies). She was a member of the Good Sam’s Club and she made sure that she visited every state in the nation and her collection of spoons proves it. Her love of traveling enabled her to spend some winters in Quartzsite and many weekends enjoying the family in Joe’s Valley. Gram was an extreme JAZZ fan.
“Gramma Jump” was a friend to all and her outgoing and youthful personality gave everyone a run for their money. Bessie never met a stranger and even if she did her contagious smile could win them over. She loved family outings, gardening, dancing and her cheerful ways delighted the hearts of all.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Gaylene (Bill) Adams, Price, Russell (Daina) Jumper, Park City, Cathy (Donnie) Leonard, East Carbon; brother, Dwaine (Luella) Anderson, Emery; sister-in-law, Olene Anderson, Emery; special friend, Ken Cooper, Price; grandchildren, Teri (Ronnie) Cripps, Toni (Stan) Rife, Mindi (Travis) Madden, Scott (Margy) Jumper, Stacy(Kelly) Christiansen, Tisa (Chad) Pendergrass, Tori (Kyle) Abeyta and Kyle Leonard; great-grandchildren, Chivas, Nick, Alisha, Ashley, Tyler, Skyler, Chelsi, Hailie, Kaper, Kellan, Makenna, Chanse, Taylon, Triton, Allee and Adri; and her twin great-great-grandsons, Townes and Waylon.
Preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Gailard and Wally; four brothers and two sisters, Elmo, Melburn, Robert, Lyle, Bonnie and Bertha.
Funeral service, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street-Price). Family was at Mitchell’s Monday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Emery City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Pricewhere friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Bessie at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
