PRICE UTAH- Thomas Brandt Anderson, 71, passed away Sept. 27, 2012 in St. George, Utah.
He was born Nov. 23, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Thomas and Estelle Anderson. He married Virginia “Gege” Story in Salt Lake City on Aug. 22, 1966.
Tom was raised in Price Utah, graduated from Carbon High and the University of Utah. At the age of 17 he lost his mother and was taken in by Jack and Rita Richards, the owners of Eastern Utah Broadcasting. After graduating from the University of Utah Tom returned to Price to manage and later own Eastern Utah Broadcasting.
Tom was involved in many community and civic projects including heading the Castle Country Travel Council, The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Price Kiwanis Club and past Exalted Ruler of the Price Elks Lodge #1550. Tom was very active in Freemasonry. He was a Past Master of Joppa Lodge # 26 F. & A.M. and a 33rd Degree Mason. Tom was a small market broadcaster and was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2011. Tom was a member of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank. Tom started the Price Kiwanis Club Radio Auction which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local kids. In 1974 Tom and Gege opened Price Travel Agency. Tom enjoyed being with his family and friends. Whether it was boating at Lake Powell, spending weekends with his family at motorcycle races or traveling with his wife, he enjoyed it all. Later in life he cherished spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Gege; daughter, Kelly (Marty) Lane, St. George, son, Paul (Ann) Anderson, Price, daughter, Christina (Jason) Oliekan, St. George; seven grandchildren Brandt, Aspynn, Sarrah, Jadon, Bailee, Kyson and Jack; brothers Robert and Dennis, and sister Lyn, all of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Tom and Estelle; brothers, John Thomas and George Roger; and sisters Betty, Janice and EmmaJean.
At Tom’s request there will be no funeral. A celebration of his life will take place Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carbon Country Club (3055 North Highway 6).
