Two Letters to the Editor in the June 26 issue of the Emery County Progress sort of stuck in my craw. One was from N. Scarlet where he praised Obama, claiming that “lack of dissent means less innocent civilians will die…” What a silly statement. Without dissent our leaders are free to commit whatever atrocities they choose. The murder of Border Guard Brian Terry is a good example. Even with the investigation by Congress Obama is still obfuscating the matter. Remember: Silence is the sanction of the victim. When our President does anything that decreases the freedoms or stature of America and We the People remain silent, we, by our silence, condone that action. By our silence we say it is OK to send those drones over American soil to spy on Americans. By our silence we say to Obama, it is OK /not/ to defend our borders. By our silence, we say to him, it is OK to grant amnesty to illegal aliens without Congressional approval. By our silence we tell him it is OK to spend America into bankruptcy so our children will become slaves to debt. By our silence we tell him is it OK to tax the people to force socialized medicine upon us. Everywhere in the world where socialized medicine is the policy, medical service is inferior.
The other, by D. Moskowitz. While I agree with his point, I take issue with his use of the term “expansionist policies” to describe China’s military build up. Those same conditions are regularly described by the leftist and the major media as “American imperialism”. China expansionist policies are imperialistic, not expansionistic.
The sooner Americans learn the vocabulary of the America haters, the sooner we can begin to restore some of the freedoms we have lost. We no longer have freedom of speech since the advent of political correctness. We no longer have freedom of religion since Obama dictated how churches must practice their faith, forcing them to finance abortion against their religions convictions. If you do not stand up for the other persons freedom when it is attacked, who will stand up for yours when yours is under attack.
So what is the big deal about euphemizing China’s imperialism? It is just more politically correctness, giving advantage to our enemies while they continuing to belittle America.
