PRICE- Volmer D. Oviatt, age 94, passed away May 13, 2013 in Price. He was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Elmo, Utah to Dee and Lillian Erickson Oviatt. Married Rita Axelsen on Aug. 5, 1944 in Price, Utah; she passed away on March 22, 2008.
Volmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired member of the U.M.W.A. Valley Camp Local #6788. Dad loved working in his yard and garden, pulling weeds and keeping everything just so.
Volmer and Rita loved to camp and take their trailer to the desert and the mountains whenever possible. He enjoyed his four-wheeler winter and summer and the fishing and cabin at Scofield provided many relaxing hours. Dad also spent many hours playing cards with family and friends, especially the last few years. Volmer loved to sit on his patio and go on walks with Polar. He will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by his daughters, Peggy Hennings, Price; Susan (Henry) Etzel, Wellington; grandsons, Michael Etzel, Salt Lake City, David Payton; sisters, Sally Rae Russ, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Marva Jones, Othellow, Wash.; Agnes Allred, Ferron; sisters-in-law, Lois Abrams, Clara Axelsen, both of Price; brother-in-law Ted Jensen, Elmo.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rita Oviatt; son, Kent Oviatt; granddaughter, Traci Tallerico; son-in-law, Bob Hennings; two brothers and four sisters, Lu Dean and Arden Oviatt, Vea Sabey, Grace Rodgers, Lois Jensen and Elva Jensen.
Funeral service, Thursday, May 16, 2013, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home.
Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment Price City Cemetery.
