"It may be back to school time, but the Green River kids had one last summer bash before hitting the books."

Aug. 3 was a fun-filled day in Green River. Summer is coming to a close, and the Boys and Girls Club of Green River wanted to celebrate the end of their Summer Camp Program, as well as the beginning of the new school year, when the After School Program will commence.
The event was called Just Add Water, and boy, were they soaked. Everyone gathered in the O.K. Anderson Park in Green River on Main Street for an afternoon of fun and friendship. Everyone basked in the sun while participating in water-fueled races, painting an art mural, tie-dyeing t-shirts, blowing bubbles, eating cotton candy, and slipping on the massive slip and slide. Thanks, Doreen Allen and the Green River Volunteer Fire Department. Although there were more than 800 water balloons to be tossed around, there are never enough water balloons. They ended the event with a free-for all water balloon dodge ball game and a little freeze dance competitions. Losers were soaked with a sponge, but everyone walked away with a prize, because Green River kids can dance. This event was also made possible through support from Castleview Hospital and the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation.
The Boys and Girls Club of Green River would also like to thank everyone who came to the park with a lot of smiles, and all of their volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you. Photo credits: Sarah Burnett
