Green River City Council met on Nov. 12. Ken Young with Utah Community Planners talked about getting a community plan in place. It was approved to enter into an agreement with the State Aeronautical Division for the airport project funded by the FAA and the State.
The city’s Destination Green River website and the traffic to that site was discussed and the numbers have been increasing since its inception. The brochures and rack cards funding was approved to get them reprinted. A business can sponsor the day trip brochures with a $350 buy in. They will get their logo and contact info put on the rack card and they can have their choice of one of five of the different rack cards.
The National Park Service has approved Green River’s application for the trail system the city wants to put in. A committee has been formed and will be working with NPS on getting the trails put in.
Amending the purchasing policy was approved along with a raise for the ordinance officer, CJ Vetere, who has taken on more duties since being hired.
Tesla is wanting to put in a charging station for their electrical cars at the museum. It was approved on the condition that the contract reflected the changes discussed including either party can opt out of the contract.
Vehicle purchasing was vehicles that are “on their last leg”. More research will be done on different options of purchasing them.
The culvert project to improve the flood drainage was discussed and tentatively approved. It was approved to obtain engineering services to look at replacing the museum roof and to obtain engineering services for the new fire house. Canvas of election was approved.
Mayor Pat Brady is forming a Veteran’s Memorial committee and is seeking funding to put in a memorial in Green River. He talked about the report on CNN “Pandora’s Promise” which discussed nuclear power. He wants the cumulative focus of Green River to be growth in economic, education, and family life.
