ORANGEVILLE – Joan Sandra Sudweeks, age 72, of Orangeville, Utah, died Jan. 4, 2013 peacefully at her home. She was born Oct. 6, 1940 in Castle Dale, Utah. She was the daughter of William Chester Samples and Oral Jones Hall. Joan married Jim L Blackburn on Jan. 2, 1958 in Ely Nev. They had three children: Cheryl Jean Blackburn, James Bret Blackburn, and Jimmy Lee Blackburn, They later divorced.
Joan married Ernest Deloye Tucker, in the summer of 1972, and had their only child, Delanna Jo Tucker. They were later divorced.
Joan was an adventurous woman, who loved fishing. She really enjoyed letting you know she caught the biggest fish! Joan was a hard worker and worked hard at a variety of jobs including: security at the local power plants and apartment managing in Alaska. The thing she took pride in the most was raising her children.
She later met Richard Sudweeks and was married on March 29, 1996 in Richfield, Utah. The 17 years they had together were spent mostly in Las Vegas where Richard, aka “Suds”, worked as a mechanic. When Suds retired they moved to Orangeville, Utah were they spent their retirement enjoying trail rides, camping and comparing the sizes of the fish they caught.
She is survived by, Husband, Suds; loving children: Cheryl Blackburn, Jimmy (Ruth) Blackburn and Delanna (Trent) Riley; step children: Jason Sudweeks, Brooke (Ryan) Winget and Angie Thomas; grandchildren: Troy Madsen and family of Billings, Mo., Arshelle Spencer and family of Centerfield, Utah, James, Brayden, and John Tyler Blackburn of Mayfield Utah, Rylee and Mckayla Blackburn of Richfield, Utah, Coco Blackburn of Socorro, N.M., Jayden and Braycer Riley of Clawson, Utah, Ethan and Kennedy Winget of Richfield, Utah, Jaren, Brayden and Chaston Sudweeks of Richfield, Utah, Eve and Madison Thomas of Layton, Utah and five great grand children: Jysten, Takota “Turk”, Mikenzi, Shaley and Ayden.
She is preceded in death by her son, James Bret Blackburn.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church (35 West Mill Road – Ferron, UT).
