In a region meet hosted by Grand High School and played at the Moab golf course, Emery senior McKlane Allred posted his best round of the season as he was the medalist after shooting a 77. “McKlane is one of the top golfers in the region” according to Coach Kevin Reynolds and “McKlane should continue to shoot lower and lower scores.”
Allred, a regular at Millsite Golf Course, has been the top Spartan golfer the past several years and this season he has taken aim at being the best in 2-A golf. Besides being a good athlete, Allred shows that regular practice pays off.
With Allred leading the way, the rest of the golf team stepped up their game and the Spartans finished second behind Grand High.
They narrowed the margin of the loss to only 13 strokes as the entire team posted better scores.
Jordan Fuller shot an 87 with Mark DeBry shooting a 91 and Kyler Farley shooting a 96. Reynolds added, “As a team we are starting to play better” with the competition between his players heating up as they all want to play in the meets.
Emery outshot South Sevier by 18 strokes and have retaken overall second place by around 15 strokes.
The Spartans will be looking to add their totals this week as they travel to Richfield to play on the Rams home course.
North Sevier and San Juan trailed the other three schools.
