Ken and Kathleen Stilson

ORANGEVILLE: Ken Stilson, 69, and Kathleen Stilson, 69, passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Dec. 12, 2013 near Axtell, Utah. Ken was born Feb. 14, 1944 in Orangeville, Utah to Kent and Ruth (Humphrey) Stilson. Kathy was born April 10, 1944 in Price, Utah to Ross and Norma Bernice (Jones) Anderson. They were high school sweethearts and were married for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on August 21, 1965.
Both were raised in Emery County and loved the rural lifestyle. Ken completed his degree in Education at the University of Utah where he was a pitcher for the baseball team. Kathy supported them early on working for the Forest Service and Weather Bureau. Ken began his career teaching and coaching at Emery High but soon switched to working construction and building this community with his father and brothers. They raised their family in Orangeville where they taught and shared with their kids their love of camping, hunting, sports, gardening, eastering, rock collecting, working, serving others, and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They loved following and supporting their kids and grandkids in their various activities. They were pillars in the community both spiritually and socially, serving faithfully in many church callings and community organizations.
Both were firm in their testimony and knowledge of the gospel. They previously worked in the Manti Temple and were once again on their way to the temple to fulfill an assignment when they were called home. They had a strong desire to serve a mission and are no doubt now serving faithfully in such an endeavor. We are deeply saddened to have lost them at this season but look forward to a future happy reunion and take comfort that they are now among many friends and family. Their wit, wisdom, love and beautiful smiles will be greatly missed.
They are survived by Ken’s parents, Kent and Ruth Stilson; their children, Marc (Korinda) Stilson, Scott (Heather) Stilson, Marci Stilson, Doug Stilson, McKelle (Josh) France; brothers, Royce (Judy) Stilson, Lewis (Leigh) Stilson, Jim (Kathy) Anderson, Don (Camile) Anderson; sisters, Valene (Lond) Wakefield, Camille (Richard) Williams, Loretta (Leroy) Maxfield and 20 beautiful grandchildren. They were preceded in death by Kathy’s parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. Viewings will be on Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 165 West 800 North, Castle Dale, Utah.
