Little Capri Ware is in need of some help. Her father Michael is a former resident of Orangeville and grew up in Emery County. Little Capri has Ebstein’s Anamoly stage 3, pulmonary stenosis and SVT. Michael said, “We found out two weeks before she was born, my wife Kendra went to the ER because she was sick. They did an ultra sound, noticed her heart and life-flighted her via ambulance to the University of Utah where she stayed until Capri was born.
“We have had a lot of help since Capri’s birth. The LDS church held a cupcake fundraiser to help us pay for gas to get back and forth to the hospital. Our neighbors did all of our yard work, and made us meals during the two months at the NICU
“We were told Capri had a 5 percent chance of living longer than a few minutes. That we needed to prepare for her death because babies with Ebstein’s this severe just don’t live very long. She is our miracle baby and we want to do everything possible to keep her with us for as long as we can. She will need open heart surgery next year at the MAYO clinic in Rochester, Minn.
“We will be holding a fundraiser on Dec. 21. It’s a Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser in the founders room at the Zions Bank building located in downtown Salt Lake City (across from City Creek). Tickets will be $10 a person at the event or $9 RSVP online at www.fightforcapri.com, and will include a pancake breakfast, live entertainment, a family picture with Santa and access to the silent auction. We have had so many things donated from makeup baskets to hot air balloon rides to a playstation 3 and a lot more that is up for auction. For all of the auction items and sponsors, those interested can go to www.fightforcapri.com
“We would love for people to stop by while they are downtown doing their last minute shopping. We have a lot of gifts for those hard to buy for family members “Mainly now we just need people to attend and spread the word The fundraiser is on Dec. 21 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Zions bank building 1 Main Street Salt Lake City 18th floor.
“Our goal for the fundraiser is to help with our three-four week trip/stay in Minnesota. The trip for the surgery will cost close to $20,000. Our goal is to raise half of that. For more information go to www.fightforcapri.com that has a link to my email, our address, RSVP for tickets, place an online bid for the auction, make a donation, buy a fundraiser T-shirt or just get more information in general,” said Ware.
Editor’s note: This is a story which ran on the Emery County Progress website. The fundraiser was on Saturday, but you can still contribute on the website www.fightforcapri.com to help this little girl and her family.
