Volunteer Center appreciation luncheon

Directors Jerry and Gerry Stotler held their annual Emery County Volunteer Center thank you luncheon at the Orangeville Community Center Old Firehouse. Volunteers from all over the county came to Orangeville to take part in this event. Jerry Stotler was seen cooking hamburgers and hot dogs in preparation for the group. While his wife Gerry Stotler and others were decorating tables and organizing the food on the buffet tables. The grocery stores Food Ranch and Stewart’s donated some of the food for the meal.
This volunteer lunch was opened with a prayer by Baptist Pastor, Tim Lacock of Ferron.
Jay Mahana from Indianola and the Country Rovers a Western band from the Huntington area entertained those in attendance by playing and singing Country Western songs.
Mary Lynn Mower who has recently moved to Holiday, donated 25 or 30 garbage bags full of yarn to the Volunteer Center. There was a large stack and a variety of colored yarn available free to anyone who wanted it. During the excellent meal everyone seemed to be enjoying meeting and visiting with the other volunteers.
After the meal Jerry and Gerry Stotler introduced the members of their Emery County Volunteer Center Board of Directors. They are Jerry and Gerry Stotler, Donna Lowe and Deana Tallerico.
Jerry Stotler announced that The Emery County Volunteer Center will, in mid December, have an office in the building of the Carbon Emery Insurance Company at 105 N Main St. Huntington, Utah. The Emery County Volunteer Center phone numbers are 749-2633 or 749-2717.
The Volunteer Center helps with a number of projects each year including the Emery County Fair, Relay for Life and a Volunteer non-profit event to collect food for the food bank.
The volunteers helped with Relay for Life, the Emery County Fair, and Peach Days. They currently help in their own communities with things like Senior Band, Line Dancing, CERT, and the Desert Edge Soup Kitchen. Many of those that took the yarn will be creating items for our Compassionate Crafters project so that they can give warm caps to kids and adults in need.
