Ivan Delano Fidell, age 75, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Price. He was born Nov. 2, 1937 in Spring Glen, Utah to Marco Z. and Marie Auphand Fidell. Ivan was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon College in 1955.
On Sept. 17, 1959 he married Karen H. Katzameyer in Panguitch, Utah and they made their home at the Blue Cut. Ivan liked to work and had many irons in the fire all the time. He worked for Utah Power & Light Carbon and Huntington Power Plants (Rocky Mountain Power) for 26 years where he was respected by all. Ivan enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he and mom could clear a dance floor with their polka dancing. “Knivin Ivan” loved auctions and was always bringing something home, even Helper City’s 1927 La France Fire Engine! Over the years he built two trailer courts and managed several rentals. In his spare time he was a beekeeper, farmer, guitar player and lion hunter with 27 hounds at one time. Ivan enjoyed life and made friends everywhere he went. He was always joking, laughing and waiting to hit the next lottery. He was a great husband, fantastic father and a loving grandfather who will be missed by all. His grandkids were his pride and joy!
Ivan was a Master Mason and member of the Price York Rite Bodies of Freemasonry. He was a member of Joppa Lodge # 26, The El Kalah and Eastern Utah Shrine. Ivan was also a member of E Clampus Vitus, Matt Warner Chapter #1900. Dad was very giving and he would give anyone the shirt off his back.
