CASTLE DALE – Charles G. Oman, “Charlie Chicken”, age 69, passed away June 8, 2013 in Provo, Utah. Charlie was born March 13, 1944 in Redding, Calif. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Nada and Grant Jones. He married Ileine Slaugh on Dec. 15, 1962 in Orangeville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized on October 19, 2012 in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple.
Charlie was raised in Castle Dale and later moved to Page, Ariz. where he met the love of his life, Ileine. He later moved back to Castle Dale with his wife where they raised their three children. Charlie was lucky and talented enough to be able to work as a timbercutter, doing drywall, coal mining, and later became a successful business owner. Charlie was always the life of the party, and he loved being around his family and friends. His kids and grandkids were always his greatest joy! Charlie loved traveling, especially in the RV, and he also loved being able to go fishing and hunting.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Ileine; children: Annette (Fred) LeRoy, Traci Oman, and Cody (Lindsey) Oman; grandkids: Shawn (Andria) LeRoy, Trenton LeRoy, and Charles Dreyden and Peyton Oman; great-grandkids: Kaston LeRoy, Avia LeRoy, Alexis LeRoy, and Sammi LeRoy; one sister: two brothers; five sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held June 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center (35 East Main Street). There will be a viewing Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary of Castle Dale (720 North Center St.) and Friday at the Stake Center from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Charlie at www.fausettmortuary.com.
