HUNTINGTON – Estella G. Guymon, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and active church and civic worker, died Oct. 19, 2013, in Salt Lake City. Estella was born April 28, 1914, in Castle Dale, Utah, the youngest child and only daughter of Louis Olsen Ungerman and Minnie Estella Acord. She grew up in a family of indulgent and protective brothers. She was an honors graduate of Central High School and also attended Brigham Young University. Estella married Elmo G Geary in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 19, 1937. They had three children. Following Elmo’s death in 1961, she married A. Grant Guymon. He died in 2006.
Estella served for 16 years as Emery County recorder, and was the first woman elected to the board of the Emery County School District. She filled many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including several happy years serving in the Manti Temple with Grant. She and Grant also enjoyed their many travel adventures.
Estella is survived by son, Edward (Janet) Geary; daughter, Sue Geary (Michele Page); eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers; husbands, Elmo and Grant; son, John Louis Geary; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. in the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 N. Main). There will be a viewing Tuesday Oct. 22 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 N. Center, Castle Dale) and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
