The Green River Pirates concluded their baseball season with a quarterfinal defeat at the hands of Piute last week in a game played at the Spanish Fork complex. Final score was 13-6.
Piute then defeated Wayne in the semifinals 8-6 and lost to undefeated Panguitch 2-0 in the 1-A state championship game at UVU. Panguitch finished the season with a record of 24-0 after having started the season with a 7-0 victory over Green River.
Panguitch had defeated Tintic 16-2 in the quarterfinals and Tabiona 3-0 in the semifinals before winning the championship.
Junior Spencer Marshall led the team this season with the bat. Marshall led the team with three homeruns, six triples and six doubles. TJ Hughes tied Marshall with six doubles.
The team finished with 8 homeruns, 15 triples and 37 doubles as all players had at least one extra base hit this season.
