Services were held for long time Castle Dale Fire Chief Richard Herring on May 19. He passed away May 11 in Provo.
The Castle Dale fire department as well as fire departments from surrounding areas brought their fire trucks out in Richard’s honor.
In addition to working with the fire department, he was a long time EMT. He worked with the Emery High football team patching up their wounds and letting them know when it was time to go to the doctor.
Another favorite thing Richard and Margaret liked to do was be Santa and Mrs. Claus at area rest homes and community parties during the Christmas season.
The fire departments led a processional from the church up to the Fausett Mortuary where a last call signal was given for Herring over the radio.
He was buried in the Wasatch Lawn cemetery in Salt Lake.
