WELLINGTON – Garna Palmer Butler, age 79, passed away peacefully Aug. 9, 2014 in Provo, Utah from a sudden illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 23, 1934 in Teasdale, Utah to the late Arthur and Cora Coleman Palmer. On Jan. 27, 1951 she married Robert Earl Butler of Wellington, Utah.
Garna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several church positions including Primary, Relief Society and Visiting Teaching. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Garna was a long time resident of Wellington who dedicated her life to family. She was compassionate, thoughtful, unselfish and genuine. She has been the best example, always happy, loving and a positive woman, with such a pure heart, so strong, no matter the situation or how hard.
Garna spent time in her childhood years working on a family farm. She also worked as a lunch preparer and server at Wellington Elementary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, embroidering, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, crafts, camping and fishing with her family.
Family was the most important to her. She enjoyed having her large, close-knit family reunited as often as possible.
Garna is survived by eight children: Roanna (Clyde) Davis, Wellington; Deanna (Lynn) Jorgensen, Springville, Utah; Dianna (Larry) Johnson, Price, Utah; William Butler, Orangeville, Utah; Robyn (Jim) Nelson, Wellington; Darlene (Kory) Judd, Benicia, Calf.; Robert (Cinamon) Butler, Enoch, Utah; Connie (Rich) Foss, Pahrump, Nev. 28 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild to be. Sister: Ileen Siaperas. Sisters and Brother In-Law: Gene and Elaine, Sally B., Jo, Judy and Sally T.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Willis and LaMont, grandchildren Joshua Jorgensen and Billie Jo Butler.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Wellington LDS Stake Center, 935 East Main. A viewing will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and also on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in the Wellington City Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Garna at www.fausettmortuary.com.
