Delta Wrestlers Defeat Emery 34-27

The Emery Spartans hosted the Delta Rabbits in their first home dual meet of the wrestling season on Jan. 8 and lost a heartbreaker 34-27.
With the loss of their only two seniors, coach Ferd Allred is left with an all sophomore team to battle for the Spartans. Senior Josh Luke was ranked second in the State at 125 lbs. before he tore ligaments in his shoulder and will now miss his senior year. Matt Harrison, the only other senior, fractured his arm but fully expects to return to action soon.
The results of varsity action are as follows: 103 lbs.- Jacob Bawden (E) pinned TJ Riding (D) 112 lbs.- Jesse Jensen (E) by default 119 lbs.-Kendall Bird (E) pinned Derreck Anderson(D) 125 lbs.-McCade Jensen (E) decision Gendry Gasser (D) 130 lbs.-Michael Stream (E) pinned Brady Moody (D) 140 lbs.- Tyler Hathaway (D) decision Dane Worwood (E) 145 lbs- Shelby Nielson (D) pinned Codee Gortat (E) 152 lbs.- Chet Anderson (D) pinned Jesse Housekeeper (E) 171 lbs and 180 lbs Delta won by forfeit Hwt- Jared Rowlette (D) pinned Steve Swasey (E)
There were also three matches that were non-counting. Robbie Kemple pinned his man, Jesse Jensen pinned his man and Devin Osness was pinned.
The Spartans have two more home duals, Jan. 22 at 1 pm against North Sanpete and Jan. 28 at 7 pm against Altamont.
