Two historic buildings along Castle Dale Main Street came tumbling down on Saturday morning. Work began when Sinbad Construction backhoe operator, Brady Ramon started tearing out the back of the TC West Building. He worked on that building until it was completely demolished. He then started on the old Co-op building. This was the larger of the two buildings. The demolition of both buildings took approximately an hour and a half.
The Castle Dale fire department took care of the traffic control. They had a safety perimeter set up and the traffic was down to one lane each direction in the area.
The fire trucks were on hand to spray the rubble as it came down to keep the dust down. Now the clean-up will begin on Tuesday when the Castle Dale crews haul the rubble to the Emery County landfill. The lot will be cleared and a new Emery Water Conservancy District Building will be built.
The Castle Valley Special Service District and Castle Dale City will also be housed in the new office building. For a history of the buildings which have just been torn down see the Emery County Progress print edition on Aug. 19.
