Alan Burke Gardner, 54, passed away Nov. 21, 2014, at his home in Huntington, Utah after a short illness. He was born April 26, 1960 in Salt Lake City to Burke E. and Velma M. Gardner. He graduated from Emery County High School. He worked for the Utah Department of Transportation from 1978 to 1993. He was awarded the Top Employee of the Year from UDOT in 1992. He worked for various companies as a heavy equipment operator. He married Tamara Jones in 1981 and later divorced. He married Mignon Johnson in 1992. They have one son, Travis Burke Gardner. They were later divorced. He eventually met his sweetheart, Heidi Carter.
He was a talented athlete. He played volleyball, ping pong, and softball. He came from a long line of great Gardner mechanics. He could fix anything and everything – and did! He was musical. He had a beautiful voice and spent many hours playing guitar. He loved to tease and joke and had a heart of gold. Alan inherited a love for his Dad’s farm and he spent all his spare time there.
He is survived by his mother, Velma Gardner, his sweetheart, Heidi, son Travis, brother L. Brent (Lynne) Gardner of Highland, Utah, sister, Janet (Kerry) Anderson of West Jordan, Utah, nine nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Burke, brother Chad and his nephew, John Gardner.
A viewing was held Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home, 620 North Main St., Huntington, UT. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Huntington 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 115 South 400 East with a viewing from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery entrusted to the care of the Heritage Funeral Home.
