Eastern Utah Community Credit Union held a ribbon cutting and a grand opening at their new branch in Castle Dale on Friday November 14. A free lunch was provided for those that came to visit the credit union between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Mike Milovich the President and Chief Executive Officer over offices in Price, East Carbon, Moab and Castle Dale stated when this location became available we contacted Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo told us what they wanted. We agreed to their terms and the rest is history. We are looking forward to a long-term relationship in Emery County.
Joel Hatch Branch Manager said the difference between a credit union and the banks are that we have local lending authority. You can come in and we can make a local decision and you can walk out with money in hand or in your account. We have local decision making authority and it happens a lot faster. If there were a large dollar amount involved then that would go to a board for a decision.
We will be providing financial services to anyone who lives, worships, works or recreates in Emery County. Anyone who lives in Emery County can become a member of the Eastern Utah Community Credit Union. The population of Emery County is about 10,900.
We offer the same services that any other financial institution has. We have savings accounts, checking accounts or shared draft accounts, and all types of lending. We can take care of those things on a local level and get things done and it is a different experience. We offer a full line of loans. Real Estate loans are different and they do take more time because of the title work.
Mike Milovich told the history of Eastern Utah Community Credit Union that was established in 1954 as a School Credit Union just in the Carbon School District. We have Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan and Duschene Counties as members. We now have memberships in five counties to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in those counties. We started out small and now we have assets in excess of $100 million. We are not small any more. We have come a long way.
We are looking forward to serving the people of Emery County. We hope they will come and check out the differences Credit Unions make in the lives of people. We look forward to them coming in and meeting Joel Hatch and our staff. We have been trying to get here for a long time.
When this office was first opened as First Security Bank in 1978 I was working for First Security Bank and was here for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Now that I am close to retirement I am here for another ribbon cutting.
The Branch Manager Joel Hatch introduced a few of those working at the branch. Renee Clark Chief Operations Officer from Price, Bruce Yost Chief Financial Officer, Evelyn Allred, Loan Officer, Holly Stokes Member Service Representative.
The Credit Union hours are 8 a.m to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and on Friday we are open until 6 p.m. We offer online banking and bill pay and a drive-up window. We have night deposits. We have online remote deposit available. This means you can take a photo of your check and deposit from home. We prefer you come in and we see you face to face but you can do remote deposits.
Mike Royall an artist from Emery High School has one of his paintings on display in the credit union lobby.
