A six year project called the Buckhorn Information Center will be the site of a grand opening on April 24 at 1 p.m.
The Buckhorn information center was conceived by the Travel Bureau in 2008 and was funded by Transient Room Tax collected at the hotels and campground facilities in Emery County.
The county coordinated and permitted the facility with the BLM.
The BLM provided the picnic tables for the facility. Utah State Parks provided the restroom funding and SITLA provided access to some of the rocks used for parking delineation along with BLM.
The center is intended to serve as a central point to distribute tourist information for the San Rafael Swell.
It was designed to facilitate volunteer staffing and distribution of materials.
Canyon Country Partnership is an intergovernmental group designed to provide communications between entities and they will join in the festivities on this day.
Everyone is welcome to come out and see the finished project at the junction-intersection on the Buckhorn draw road.
The site is most familiar for the water pump house facility there for cattle. The well has been relocated for the cattle.
