Myron Elias Johnson, 1936 – 2014

HOLDEN – Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and grandpa great graduated from this life on Jan. 1, 2014 surrounded by his family. Myron was born “poor, naked, and at a very young age” to Mary Lucille and Louis Irvin Johnson on August 18, 1936 in Aurora, Utah.
Myron graduated from North Sevier High School. He proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He was a dedicated, hard working Union Carpenter.
Myron was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served in various Church callings. His favorite being that of home teacher.
Myron said life began when he married Joy Christensen on December 11, 1959 in Pioche, Nevada. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 20, 1966. Myron is survived by his wife Joy, his children Cynthia Louise Johnson, Dorrie (John) Rowley, Kaye Louise (Brian) Stephenson, Christian Louis (Everett) Johnson; grandchildren, Erinn Kaye Richardson, Casey Freeman Rowley, Loren M. Stephenson and Cheryl Breanne Stephenson; great grandchildren, Marc Christian Richardson, Jesslynn Kaye Richardson, and Dalan Elias Richardson. His brother and sisters Arda (Wayne) Burr, Norman (Joyce) Johnson, Margaret (Terry) Nordfelt. Proceeded in death by his daughter Cynthia Kaye, brothers: Louis Larkin Johnson, Dwenden Johnson, and his parents. Family is what Myron lived for. They were his love for life, his pride and joy.
Myron enjoyed sports. He tipped the first ball of the first game of the first All Church Junior M Men Basketball Tournament in Salt Lake City. He was made All Marine in baseball, held West Coast High Jumper record for 2 years. He played and coached organized softball until age 55. He coached Little League Baseball for 22 years. He loved watching all kids participate in any sports, especially the ones his children and grandchildren played in. He rarely missed a game.
Myron’s life was well lived, an example well set, testimony deep and strong, true friends gathered all along the way. Always striving for the best, he endured and triumphed over more trials than most would ever know. Many life lessons were taught by this great man through example and wisdom, some serious and some with humor. He is loved deeply by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The knowledge that we will all be together again will pull us through this very sad time. We love you! We will “hang in there tough” and “be brave little buck-a-roos”!
Funeral Services were held Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Holden LDS Ward Chapel, Friends called at a viewing held prior to services 9 – 10:30 a.m.
