Lady Pirates basketball faces Tabiona

The Green River High Lady Pirates split two games last week as they defeated Altamont 34-25 on Tuesday and then lost on Friday night to Tabiona 62-55 in a close game. The Lady Pirates season record now stands at 3-5.
In the Tuesday night game, Green River used a good second quarter to grab the lead and then held on to win the game. The two teams each scored 7 points in the first quarter but Green River outscored the home team 14-7 in the second period to lead at the half 21-14. After the Pirates won the third quarter 5-3 in a low-scoring period for both teams, the two teams each scored 8 points in the final period.
Against Tabiona, the two teams battled evenly throughout the first three
quarters of the game before Tabiona won the final quarter 21-15 to win the ball game. Kira Engleman was the leading scorer against Tabiona with 26 points and Savannah Williams scored 19 points for a good one two punch for the Pirate team. Maribel Escalante scored 6 points and Presley Lovato scored 4 points for the Pirates.
In the Altamont game, Williams was the leading scorer with 9 points followed by Escalante with 8 points and Engleman with 7 points. Cassidee Moore scored 5 points, Lovato scored 3 points and Justice Hadfield scored 2 points.
The Lady Pirates only game this week is at Duchesne on Thursday night.
