The summer construction season has begun for the Castle Valley Special Service District. Nelco Contractors has received the bid for the street work.
They began work this spring and will continue until the project is complete. They will be using Bennett Paving Company from Spanish Fork for their asphalt and pavement needs.
Nielson Construction received the bid for the 2014 Drainage, Water and Sewer Projects.
B. Hansen Construction submitted the only bid for the concrete and sidewalk projects. Jacob Sharp distirct manager stated that they have done this project for the district before in the past and have been good to work with.
Jacob Sharp, district manager reviewed the Cost Summary Sheet and stated that with all of the projects bid out he has completed what the Community Impact Board project funds will look like for the year. There is $259,882.70 in contingency.
Merrial Johansen explained the street widening and the pedestrian bridge across Adobe Wash in Orangeville. He will design the bridge as part of the project without adding any costs to the contracts.
Sharp stated there is grant money available this year that needs to be used. He stated that he needs a list of projects right away from each city/town indicating what they want to add to this year’s jobs so they can be priced out and decisions made.
The board accepted the recommendation for the conventional water treatment plant in Ferron City at the existing site at an estimated cost of $2.7 Million. The board agreed to ask for 75 percent grant and 25 percent loan from the Community Impact Board in June for this project.
Plans are still in the works for the CVSSD to be a part of the new service district office building.
Jim Dresslar from Moab will be the architect for the project.
Jacob stated the intention of Castle Valley Special Service District, Emery Water Conservancy District and Castle Dale City would be to submit an application to the Community Impact Board by June 1.
He also stated that since this is a multi-agency effort, it should be looked on favorably by the Community Impact Board.
