The Emery High golf team traveled to St George last week and competed in the 2-A State golf tournament at the Southgate Golf Course. Manti edged Grand for the state title. Manti shot a two day score of 624 with Grand 17 strokes back. Manti had held a 1-stroke lead after the first day.
Jaece Stokes of Layton Christian was the medalist over the two days as he shot a 68 and then a 69 for a 137. A Manti golfer was next with a 151. Kyler Farley had the best two days for an Emery golfer as he finished 24th and shot a 175.
Emery finished ninth as a team with a two day score of 721. Also playing for Emery were Mark Debry with an 89, 94 for a 183, Tyeray Migliori with a 97, 91 and a two-day score of 188 and McKoy Holt with a 92, 93 and a two-day total of 185. Also golfing were Race Nielsen with a 195 and Jordan Fuller with a 197.
