Castle Dale Elementary, costume parade at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30. Ferron Elementary, costume parade at 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 24. There will also be a carnival at the school from 5-7 p.m. Cottonwood Elementary, costume parade on Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. Cleveland Elementary, costume parade on Oct. 30 at 9:45 a.m.
Cleveland Elementary
The Fall Festival at Cleveland Elementary will be on Oct. 24 from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $5 a person of $30/family, dinner and fun included. There will be a spook Alley, admission is $1. If you are interested in helping or have questions contact Haylee at 820-4220.
Drug free week, Oct. 27-30, Oct. 27-Camo day, Oct. 28-Crazy hair day, Oct. 29-PJ day, Oct. 30-Costume day.
Pumpkin decorating contest, Oct. 28-30. Decorated pumpkins should be brought to the school on the 28th. They will be judged and the winners will receive a prize. Everyone who participates will receive a participation prize.
No school on Oct. 31.
SCOUT ROUNDTABLE
Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Castle Dale Stake Center upstairs. Become a well trained scouter. This is the last roundtable for the year. There will not be a meeting in November or December due to the holidays.

October 18 Goblin Valley State Park ” Green River
The Fallen Goblin: Join us at 7 p.m., for a short hike to the infamous toppled goblin, during which there will be a discussion on both the geology of the Valley of Goblins, as well as the importance of leaving no trace
while exploring the park. Hike is ¾-mile round trip with some uneven terrain. Water and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. 435-275-4584
Looking for candy
The Emery County Care and Rehab is looking for donations of individually wrapped candy and candy bars for their Halloween party on Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cake walk. Everyone is invited. Thanks to the business and community members who have helped the ECCR.
Shoes for Love Organization
Miss Emery County and the Shoes for Love Organization need your help in a nationwide shoe drive. So many people go without a pair of shoes. Shoes for Love will deliver the collected shoes to these humble people in Africa and South America. Please send all used shoes to school with your student. All shoes are accepted. Drop box will be in the office of your school. Final collection will be in May. This is a competition between all elementary schools in the county; whoever collects the most shoes wins a party with the Miss Emery County Royalty.

Angel Tree applications
If you have participated in the Community Angel Tree Program for 3 years or more you will be required to attend a financial assistance workshop provided by the Individual Development Account (IDA) Program. You will be required to sign up for a class time when you turn in your application.
Applications will be reviewed when returned. If you are missing any required information or documentation the application will not be accepted until required information is received.

Huntington Fall Harvest
Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Huntington City encourages all businesses to sponsor a booth and participate in the fall harvest. The peer helpers will run the booths. Anyone interested in doing a booth can contact Julie Jones at 749-0979 or 687-9373. This will be a fun time for adults and children to come out and enjoy the festivities. There will be a chili cook off contest, pumpkin painting and carving contest along with cider and scones. Activities include a cake walk and treasure hunt.
Kids Bible Club

Adopt a pot contest
Huntington City is having a contest for any business or family who wants to decorate a flower pot on Main Street. The pots will need to be decorated for fall and Halloween and must be removed by Nov. 3. Contact Julie Jones at 749-0674 for info.

Speech and Hearing Screening
Emery School District
conducts annual speech and hearing screening to identify students who might need further evaluation of their speech or hearing. Students who fail the initial hearing screening will be given a re-test in three to four weeks. Screening is scheduled with the schools involved and takes place anytime during the school year. District Speech-Language Pathologists administer the tests. All district preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, new students and any referrals will be screened for hearing.
Pre-kindergarten students will be screened during kindergarten registration and 3rd grade students will be screened for speech only.
You must tell your school’s secretary if you do NOT want your child to receive speech or hearing screening tests.
