FERRON: Earl Preston Thompson, age 67, died July 3, 2014 in Payson, Utah. He was born May 15, 1947 to Preston and Loye Thompson.
Earl grew up in Ferron with a fishing pole in one hand and a gun in the other. This remained true throughout his life. He was a fun, loving father, a teasing big brother and an honorable son. His degree in forestry came as no surprise. After all, he was a mountain man and could fix anything with his bare hands. He was a healer, a contractor, a marksman, a story teller and a dreamer.
He is survived by his mother, Loye Thompson; children, April Hunsaker, Jacob Thompson and Shane Thompson; sisters, Meredith Hess and Justine Goodfellow; brother, Lesly Thompson; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by Preston Thompson, Tonja Thompson, Davey Luke, his grandparents, and Uncle Owen.
Graveside services were held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at noon at the Ferron City Cemetery. A viewing was held Monday, prior to the graveside service at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, Utah from 10 to 11:30 a.m. services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
