Morris and Ronnie were raised in Emery where they met and grew up together. They were married on July 1, 1966 in the Manti Temple. They have three daughters and 13 grandchildren. Morris was granted an honorable discharge from the National Guard in 1971 after serving for six years. He went to work for the Soil Conservation Service which moved the family to several different locations. In 1978 they were able to return to home to Emery where Morris worked for Consol Coal Mine in the Engineering Department. In 1984 he went to work for the Emery County Road Department where he retired as the Superintendent in 2011. Morris has been active in service in Emery Town as well as the County. He was the Mayor from 1982 to 1986, where he was able to oversee the accomplishment of the roads being paved, the secondary water being put in, and improvements made to the park. They were instrumental in starting the Emery Riding Club. Morris served as the president and Ronnie sewed most of the Club shirts. Morris is the President of the Muddy Creek Irrigation Company where he has served for a number of years with Ronnie as his secretary. Morris was an EMT for the Consol Mine and a supervisor for the Emery Town ambulance. Ronnie was also an E.M.T. Morris has served on the Emery Telcom Board since 1984 and the Emery Water Conservancy District Board. They enjoy cooking the dinner for the 24th Celebration and have for many years.
Morris and Ronnie have been active in the LDS Church where they have had multiple callings. Ronnie is currently a Primary teacher which she loves and Morris is the High Priest Secretary. Their greatest passion is their ranch where they enjoy riding their horses, herding cows and putting up hay. Morris and Ronnie’s greatest accomplishment is being great examples to their children and grandchildren.
