The article below refers to the incident for which the suspect is charged:
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call at 4:17 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, stating that a female subject had been shot and that the male who shot her was inside the residence with a gun. The shooting took place outside the residence.
Medical was dispatched and deputies responded to the scene and arrested 36 year-old Chad Robert Snyder without incident.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital where she is undergoing multiple surgeries to repair damage from a single gunshot wound.
Emery County Sheriff Greg Funk said, “The shooter is being held on charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a restricted person. The defendant has a prior criminal history. We have a witness to the crime that called in the incident to the sheriff’s office. The victim was shot by an assault rifle.
“She received a very serious wound. She was transported by ambulance to Castleview Hospital and from there flown by helicopter to a hospital up north.
“As soon as the victim is able, we will send a detective to speak with her. We believe this incident to be a domestic dispute and an argument was taking place at the time of the shooting.
“This is extremely serious and we are horrified that something of this magnitude has taken place in our community,” said Sheriff Funk.
Sheriff Funk said since the time of the shooting the victim has been in the hospital. She has improved enough that she was intervied by Detectives John Barnett and Jerod Curtis. Sheriff Funk said the victim is doing good.
